Sunday 10th May is Mother’s Day (for most of the world) and seen as us Brits have already celebrated it, I have done the research and wanted to share my finds.
Here are some gorgeous gift ideas categorised by interests:
For the Stylish Mama:
Scarves make great gifts, in my opinion a woman can never have too many! I love to find ones that have a story like this luxurious cashmere shawl (1) that has been hand woven in Nepal. However Mother’s Day might not be a big budget for some and so I love Etsy for reasonably priced, handmade goods (plus I love to support small businesses). A woman can also never have too many handbags; the iconic Longchamp Le Pliage shopper, shown in Nylon (2), comes in a range of colours, materials and styles (i.e. their website is very dangerous to the bank balance!)
For the Gourmet Mama:
It is no secret that I love food and I think a hamper is always a lovely idea for those gastronomic fans. You could totally DIY this too- buy a pretty basket or box and fill it with your Mum’s favourite foods. I have found some great ones with nibbles, wine, bubbles and even a breakfast one (7). I’m also a huge coffee lover and love the idea of a coffee subscription where different blends are sent to your house directly for you to try (6) – perhaps another DIY idea for those that do not have access to such a service.
For the Interior Design Mama:
A piece of furniture can make an unusual but useful gift; I’m in love with ceramic stools at the moment, but not in the garden, use them as side tables or stools in the house (12). Serveware can make great gifts – This clay bowl with it’s native Australian Waratah impression is exquisite (10)
For the Green-Fingered Gardening Mama:
A packet of seeds is a small but long lasting gift that keeps on giving (13) and plants brighten every room and any mood. Even if your Mum is a novice gardener, indoor plants or a succulent in a cute pot (16) look great – and succulents are very hard to kill! Or perhaps an ornament for the garden like a bird feeder (15) if nature is more her thing.
For the Health & Fitness Mama:
The possibilities are endless for fit Mamas, whether it’s a gift voucher for a sports store or perhaps a new yoga kit (17) or mat. These Beyond Cool Aqua Zinger fruit infusing water bottles (19) jazz up your water, making your daily intake target so much more achievable!
For the Literary Mama:
Books are an escape from reality and are dependable gifts. Choose from a new bestseller such as Eyrie by Tim Winton (21), or perhaps start a collection of gorgeously bound Penguin classics (23) designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith (this helps with future gifts too as the collection is huge!) To keep the books standing, this Oxfam bookend (24) is a fabulous literary themed gift that will also benefit others through its charity donation.
Last but not least…..
For the Busy, New or Expectant Mama:
You cannot go wrong with a spa day – especially if it’s as beautiful as this natural spa! Leading hotels with Spa facilities onsite will offer a range of pamper packages as well as dedicated independent. There are no links here as there are so many to choose from, start your search with Last Minute.com or Expedia for some great late deals.
To present a gift voucher, print the confirmation (for bookings made online), slip it inside your Mother’s Day Card and hang/tape it to a bottle of your Mum’s favourite bubbly.
But, if all else fails and you can’t find that perfect gift, remember it is important not to get caught up in what gifts you buy or how much you spend and remind yourself what Mother’s Day is really about.
A bunch of beautiful flowers, a big hug and a heartfelt ‘Love you’ would no doubt mean the world to your Mum. Tell her how special she is, cook her a lovely meal or take her for dinner, and recount your favourite memories of times spent together – she will be grateful just to have you there.
Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful Mamas out there.
Disclaimer: Please note I have no affiliation or connections with any of the above retailers and these products have been chosen by me because I genuinely think they will make lovely gifts. This is not a review however so I cannot vouch for quality and availability 🙂
